Welcome to the Katrin Cartlidge Foundation
The actress Katrin Cartlidge died suddenly in September 2002 at the age of 41.
Her many film credits included NAKED, BEFORE THE RAIN, BREAKING THE WAVES, CAREER GIRLS, TOPSY TURVY and NO MAN’S LAND.
Shortly after her untimely death the Katrin Cartlidge Foundation was established in her memory.
It exists to encourage, in the form in the form of an annual busary awarded to a new creative voice in cinema, the independence, singularity and integrity of spirit that Katrin Cartlidge powerfully embraced and exemplified in her own lifetime.
“When our closest friend Katrin Cartlidge died, she tore through death as she tore through life. With anarchic disregard for ‘good form’ she was gone before we knew a thing. Her magnetic sense of direction for what is right and what is possible remains a compass for all her friends. And to ensure that we remember to tear through life with that same anarchic disregard for our own safety, we set up the Katrin Cartlidge Foundation”
Simon McBurney, on behalf of the Trustees and Patrons of the Katrin Cartlidge Foundation.
